A shuttle boat filled with passengers caught fire on Friday morning in Bangkok's Saen Saeb canal, reports said.

Passengers rushed ashore right after the boat was parked at Thonglor pier. There were no casualties, the reports said.

According to the boat driver, the fire broke out in the engine area and spread the canvas roof as the boat arrived at the pier.

A representative of Kobkrua Khonsong company, which runs the ferry boat service in Saen Saeb canal, said the driver informed the company that he heard a loud explosion in the engine room before the fire began.

The fire was put out by a fire extinguisher on the boat, the reports said.
