A member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) who was accused of leaking information about pending board decisions to a former Mitt Romney campaign adviser has resigned, the board announced Sunday.
In a statement, the NLRB said Terence Flynn's resignation is effective July 24, but added that he immediately recused himself from agency business.
Two reports by the board's inspector general -- the most recent released earlier this month -- included allegations that Flynn improperly released information to two former NLRB board members. They included Peter Schaumber, a former NLRB chairman who advised Romney's presidential campaign.
Schaumber is no longer advising the Romney campaign, according to The Wall Street Journal.
A lawyer for Flynn, Barry Coburn, told The Journal that his interactions were not illegal.
In its statement about Flynn's resignation, the board said NLRB Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce informed employees of the resignation earlier Sunday and thanked them for their "hard work and commitment to excellence through even the most difficult circumstances."
