Editor’s note: The U.S. Senate has several high-profile bills to work on before leaving for a week-long Memorial Day recess. Senators need to finish work on “fast-track” trade legislation, expiring provisions of the Patriot Act and an extension of the Highway Trust Fund, The Hill reports. Senators are currently working on a deal to allow for more amendment votes on the trade promotion authority bill. There is also still no agreement on a House-passed NSA reform bill that would also deal with provisions of the Patriot Act before they expire on June. 1. It’s unclear if a “clean” extension of the NSA’s power or if the House version would pass the Senate. – Stephanie
