Flooding, hail the size of golf balls and winds of 60 mph could be in store Saturday night as a severe thunderstorm heads into the Chicago region, according to the National Weather Service.
The agency on Saturday issued a thunderstorm watch that lasts until 2 a.m. Sunday.
Amy Seeley, a meteorologist for the weather service, said reports of hail were coming in early Saturday night in Will and Kankakee counties.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued until 8:15 p.m. Saturday for Southern Will counties and Kankakee counties in Illinois and Lake and Newtwon counties in Northwest Indiana.
There was also a flash flood warning for urban areas and small streams in Kankakee County.
