2 dead, 3 injured overnight in separate Grand Rapids, Michigan, shootings - @mlive

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Police say two people are dead and three are seriously injured after two shooting incidents Monday morning.

Police first responded to the area of Burton Street and Division Avenue SW on a report of gunshots about 2:10 a.m. Upon arriving, officers found three victims on Burton Street, west of Division.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The third victim suffered a gunshot wound to the face and was transported to an area hospital, and is listed in serious condition, police said.

Police are in the process of contacting next of kin and have not released the victims' identities.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium build, wearing a white shirt with horizontal stripes and a white "fishing style" hat.

About an hour later, police responded to a 911 call from a man who reported he had been shot at Griggs Street and Buchanan Avenue SW.

When police arrived, they located two victims with gunshot wounds to the chest. Both were transported to local hospitals and are listed in serious condition, police said.

The suspect is described as a male, wearing khaki shorts and a white T-shirt wrapped around his head.

Police do not know at this time if the shootings are related.
