Several people are in custody and one person was hospitalized after an early morning standoff in Schaumburg.

Officers were investigating a suspicious person in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Pennview Lane at 1:45 a.m. when they saw several people running from a nearby apartment building, police said.

When officers approached, several people ran back inside and barricaded themselves in, according to police.

“We were trying to make contact, but they refused,” said Schaumburg Sgt. John Nebl. “Officers heard a woman yelling for help and that she was not allowed to leave.”
