Romney campaign posts first video with Paul Ryan

Mitt Romney has released his first video with Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate.

The 80-second web video is titled “America’s Comeback Team,” and focuses on the economy.

“These last four years have seen higher unemployment, declining incomes and crushing debt,” the narrator says. “This cannot be the new normal. America needs a comeback. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan: America’s Comeback Team.”

Romney made the announcement Saturday that Ryan, the House Budget Committee chairman, would be the Republican vice presidential candidate.

The 42-year-old Ryan is known for his House GOP-backed budget proposals that focus on reducing the size of government and cutting the federal deficit.

“Over the years I have seen and heard from a lot of families, from a lot of those who are running small businesses, and from people who are in need,” Ryan says in the video. “What I hear from them (lately) are diminished dreams, lowered expectations, uncertain futures.”

His comments and several others in the video were taken from the event Saturday at a Norfolk, Va., naval yard in which Ryan joined Romney to accept the offer to join the GOP presidential ticket.

“I hear some people say that this is just the new normal," Ryan also says in the video. “High unemployment, declining incomes and crushing debt is not a new normal.”

The Romney campaign said it took in $3.5 million in the seven hours after Ryan was added to the GOP ticket.

Romney and Ryan are campaigning Sunday in North Carolina and Wisconsin.
