RAW: Accused Madam Free on Bond

Accused madam Anna Gristina walked out of a Manhattan courthouse Tuesday night, free for the first time since her February arrest. She was flanked by her husband and their 9-year-old son, who had arrived with a bouquet of red roses for his mother.

A judge has refused to dismiss the case of a suburban mother of four charged with running a high-end escort ring in Manhattan.

The judge rejected the defense bid Thursday as Anna Gristina appeared for her promoting-prostitution case. Her trial was set for Oct. 15.

Co-defendant Jaynie Baker's court appearance was postponed. A person familiar with the case said Tuesday that Baker made a deal with prosecutors.

Defense lawyer Norman Pattis says Gristina doesn't believe Baker has any information that could harm her.

Prosecutors say Gristina peddled prostitutes for 15 years and claimed to have law-enforcement connections. Her lawyers have said she was merely starting a matchmaking business.
