7 charged in shootings that killed 2 Louisiana police officers - @NolaNews

Seven suspects have been charged in the shootings -- two fatal -- of four St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputies on Thursday. So far, the suspects have only been charged in the shooting of Michael Scott Boyington, the first deputy shot while working a traffic detail at a remote parking lot for the Valero refinery at the intersection of Louisiana 3217 and Airline Highway.

Boyington survived the shooting.

Terry Smith, 44, of 250 Riverview Court, LaPlace has been charged with principal to attempted first degree murder of a police officer. His bond has been set at $750,000.

Brian Smith, 24, of 250 Riverview Court, LaPlace, has been charged with attempted first degree murder of a police officer.

Derrick Smith, 22, of 258 Riverview Court, LaPlace, has been charged with principal to attempted first degree murder of a police officer. His bond has been set at $750,000.

Kyle Joekel, 28, of 245 Riverview Court, LaPlace, has been charged with principal to attempted first degree murder of a police officer.

Chanel Skains, 37, of 250 Riverview Court, LaPlace, has been charged with accessory after the fact to attempted first degree murder of a police officer. Her bond has been set at $350,000.

Teniecha Bright, 21, of 245 Riverview Court, LaPlace, has been charged with principal to attempted first degree murder of a police officer. Her bond has been set at $750,000.

Brittney Keith, 23, of 250 Riverview Court, LaPLace, has been charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder of a police officer. Her bond has been set at $350,000.

Two of the suspects, Brain Smith and Kyle Joekel, remain hospitalized and will be booked once they are released, according to Louisiana State Police.

The Riverview Trailer Park on Riverview Court is where Deputies Jeremy Triche, Brandon Nielsen and Jason Triche were "ambushed" as they were interviewing two suspects in connection with an earlier shooting involving another sheriff's deputy, according to St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre.

Tregre said Nielsen, Jeremy Triche and Jason Triche were talking to two suspects in the earlier shooting when a third person opened fire on the deputies. State Police Commander Col. Mike Edmonson said multiple weapons and in excess of 20 gunshots were fired during the deadly shootout.

Jeremy Triche and Nielsen were killed, and Jason Triche was wounded.
