A Riverside County wildland fire that was first reported about 1:20 p.m. Saturday grew to more than 600 acres within three hours.

Some 280 firefighters were on the scene of the blaze, which was initially seen off Potrero Road near the Wolfskill Extension Truck Trail, south of Beaumont.

The fire grew from 400 to 600 acres within 20 minutes, according to a 3:50 p.m. update on an incident report on the Riverside County Fire Department's website

 The fast-growing blaze had caused no injuries, and no structures were threatened as of 3:30 p.m.
