SALT LAKE CITY  — A Delta flight bound for Paris blew a tire on takeoff, forcing the airplane to circle the airport for a couple of hours to dump fuel before it could safely land.

The 198 passengers on board Flight 89 to Charles de Gaulle Airport were shuttled off the tarmac by bus Saturday evening, while maintenance crews assessed the extent of damage to the equipment on the 767ER-300.

Trouble was first reported at 4:50 p.m. and by shortly after 7 p.m., emergency dispatchers were reporting the plane had safely landed. Gann said it was likely the passengers would be rerouted to another flight that evening.
