1 in Toronto stage collapse taken to hospital with serious head injuries; 2 others treated, released after minor injuries - @globalnewsto

TORONTO - One person is dead and another critically injured after a stage collapsed at Toronto's Downsview Park.

The stage collapsed just hours before U.K. rock band Radiohead was to play a sold out show.

Police say the critically injured person was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with serious head injuries, two others were treated for minor injuries and released.

Authorities say the park wasn't full, but there was a considerable crowd of people already waiting for the show. Emergency crews have since cleared the area. A spokesperson for the venue tweeted that the concert has been cancelled.

The sold out Downsview Park show was the final date on the North American leg of Radiohead's tour.

Ticketmaster.ca says for tickets purchased in person, tickets will be refunded at point of purchase only beginning on June 22. Internet and phone ticket orders will automatically be cancelled and refunded.
