Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, have arrived in Toronto to continue their royal tour of Canada.

The royal couple landed Monday afternoon at Toronto Pearson International Airport, where they were greeted by officials and politicians, including Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion.

The four-day tour of Canada, which began Sunday in Fredericton, is part of Diamond Jubilee celebrations marking the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth's reign.

Prince Charles and Camilla are scheduled to meet with emergency first responders and their families later this evening to highlight the importance of service, the theme of the tour.

The couple will end the night with a fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay, along Toronto's waterfront, to celebrate Victoria Day. They will be joined by Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford.

Security is already tight at Ashbridges Bay, where a fence has been set up. Some visitors said they have been asked to move. The park is a popular spot for fireworks with 80,000 people usually showing up for the Victoria Day show.

Prince Charles and Camilla began their day in New Brunswick, where they visited CFB Gagetown and delivered a speech recalling his visit to the military base as a young pilot in the 1970s.

The couple then headed to Saint John, where thousands cheered their arrival. Their schedule was delayed in the afternoon as they greeted long lines of people hoping to chat with them.

Prince Charles capped off the tour of Saint John by playing an impromptu match of ball hockey with several children outside an elementary school.

The royal couple is scheduled to be in Toronto until Tuesday evening, when they will leave for Regina.
