40 mutilated bodies found in Mexico

  • The remains are found in plastic bags along a highway
  • Police and troops are combing the area, Notimex says

Mexico City (CNN) -- Mexican police found the mutilated remains of 40 people in the northern border state of Nuevo Leon Sunday morning.

The remains were found in plastic bags along the highway between the cities of Monterrey and Reynosa, the state-run Notimex news agency reported, citing police sources.

Police and troops were combing the area and had set up checkpoints, Notimex said.
